Abstract

When there are more and more demands on the urgency for Spain to design and implement a concrete development cooperation policy, especially with Latin American countries, some questions arise: To what extent could Spain strengthen its Relations with the countries of Latin America, on the until now difficult path towards their integration into the European Communities? Will the EEC development cooperation policy condition the future of relations between Spain and Latin America? Can Spain, after its accession, contribute to strengthening cooperation between the European Communities and Latin America? Two of these aspects are referred to in this paper, which are also interrelated: on the one hand, the EEC policy on development cooperation and, on the other, the existing relations between Latin America and the European Communities.
