We remind our collaborators that Revista de Estudios de la Justicia maintains its reception of articles throughout the year.

In order to comply with our editorial deadlines, articles submitted before April 30 may be published in the upcoming July issue.

Publication Policies

Originality

Articles and case-law commentaries submitted for publication must be original and unpublished contributions. Translations must be unpublished, prepared by the persons submitting them, and will be selected by the Editorial Board according to their relevance for the Spanish-speaking readership. Accordingly, only those contributions that have not been previously published in any other journal, newspaper, book, or other publication (whether or not they have a DOI or ISBN), as well as translations that have obtained the corresponding authorizations, will be considered.

Only works organized as academic articles, case-law commentaries, or translations that make a substantive contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the legal sciences and related disciplines will be selected.

All submissions, upon receipt, are screened using the Turnitin system in order to detect possible matches with other publications that may indicate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, as well as substantial use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. Should any instance of overlap or evidence of substantial AI use (exceeding 30%) be detected, the Revista de Estudios de la Justicia reserves the right to automatically reject the submission.

Language of Publication

The Journal of Justice Studies publishes articles written in Spanish and English.

Evaluation and Review

Articles and case-law commentaries will be subject to peer review. The reviewers will be experts, duly qualified, in the area of law to which the submitted text relates. The evaluation will consider, among other relevant aspects, originality, the soundness of the arguments, coherence between the objectives of the text and its development, the application of an appropriate methodology in light of its subject matter, conclusions grounded in the analysis carried out, proper use and handling of sources, and thorough consultation and use of relevant national and comparative bibliography. The Editorial Board may request that authors supplement, revise, or adapt their articles or commentaries in light of the reviewers’ assessments and the journal’s own policies published on its website, and may, as a result of this process, reject articles or case-law commentaries submitted for publication.

Translations will be assessed by the journal’s editorial team as to their relevance and quality, in accordance with the journal’s own policies published on its website, and may, as a result of this process, be rejected for publication.

Submission Deadlines

The Journal undertakes to comply with the following timelines for submitted manuscripts:

  • Preliminary review: within one week of receipt of the manuscript, notifying whether it meets the formal requirements for submission to peer review, or returning it for correction.

  • Peer review: the manuscript will be sent out within one week of receipt, requesting that it be evaluated within two weeks from the reviewers’ acceptance of the review assignment. In the case of translations, the Editorial Board will carry out the substantive review within a period of two weeks.

  • Notification of results: this will take place within one week of the completion of the evaluation process, and the corresponding reports will be forwarded to the authors in the case of original articles and case-law commentaries.

The Journal will make its best efforts to ensure that editorial and publication timelines are as short as possible.

Publication is continuous. The final deadline for a submitted work to be considered for the corresponding annual issue is 10 September of the same year.
